Wasatch - Mt. Olympus
Trail Overview:
Elevation Gain: 4000 feet
Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
Dog friendly: Yes
Mount Olympus is the prominent view along the Wasatch Front from the Holiday area. This hike offers some spectacular views of the Salt Lake Valley and the peaks of the Cottonwood Canyons.
The trail head begins at the climbing rock, Pete's rock, and ascends a steep stair like climb up a series of switch backs. You will eventually reach a rock outcropping which is also a common stopping point for many hikers.
Past this point, you will cross a seasonal stream and begin another series of switch backs up the steep mountain face eventually reaching the saddle of the 9026 foot peak. Be careful not to kick loose any rocks as you scramble up past the saddle to the peak.
Mount Olympus is accessible most of the year and is a great hike to explore in the early season when most other hikes are still covered with snow.
