BIG PINE #1

This is a boat-in campsite along the Green River, located about 3 miles below the Little hole Boat Site. At 6000', this area is typical of a high dessert community that offers natural shade. Each site is equipped with a pinic table, fire ring, tent pads, benches, and screening for a portable toilet. Services in the area include: Flaming Gorge Recreation Services 435-885-3191 -- raft rental, guided fishing, convenience store, shuttle service, tackle, gas, auto repair, showers, and pay telephones. BIG PINE #1 Directions

From Vernal UT, take US Highway 191 north 45 miles. Cross the FlamingGorge Dam and turn right on road leading to upper launch site at SpillwayBoat Ramp. A second launch is 7 miles down the river at Little Hole BoatRamp. Cross the dam and continue to the town of Dutch John. Turn rightoff Highway 191 and go east on Forest Road 075 about 6 miles. The site is10.5 miles below Spillway and 3.3 miles below Little Hole.From Rock Springs, WY, take US Highway 191 south 63 miles. Just beforecrossing the dam, turn left on the road to Spillway. A second launch siteis down the river at Little Hole. At the town of Dutch John, turn left offHighway 191 and go east on Forest Road 075 about 6 miles. The site is10.5 miles below Spillway, and 3.3 miles below Little Hole.

Important Information: This is a boat-in camp. It is accessible only by water. Specialregulations apply. Requirements to launch: Boater must carry a bailbucket, throw line, extra oar, and must wear a life jacket while on thewater. The Forest Service requires the use of portable toilet systems forall campers. These toilets must be sealable, flushable, and reusable.Bag-lined systems are not allowed.This campground is located in the Flaming Gorge National RecreationArea (FGNRA). The FGNRA is participating in the Recreation FeeDemonstration Program, it states each vehicle must display a RecreationFee Pass outside of the campground if using other recreationalfacilities (e.g. boat ramps, picnic areas, and day-use areas). A dailypass is $2; a 16-day pass is $5; and an annual is $20. Passes can bepurchased from the Forest Service, campground managers, and localbusinesses. The holder of a Golden Passport will not be required topurchase a recreation fee pass if displayed on the dash of the vehicle.
