Merino Wool

Well, I decided to do my own experiment on merino wool. I had heard some great things about it and wanted to find out for sure if its all that its sheared up to be. I purchased a 100% pure merino wool shirt from Icebreaker and wore it 1 week straight. Thats right, it arrived on thursday and I wore it until the following thursday to dinner parties, cross country skiing, walking the dog, yoga and playing with the kids. The claim that pure merino wool does not stink and hold odor like synthetic products is TRUE! I was pretty skeptical about this because I consider myself pretty active and it never got stinky, even after a weeks straight worth of wearing. The shirt I wore was what I consider a thin layer and I wondered how warm I would be but we had some record cold weather here in Utah during my experiment. I wore this shirt under a down jacket in -8 degrees and was perfectly cozy warm for extended periods of time in the mountains. Unlike some synthetics, the natural fibers breathed well keeping me nice and dry during cardio workouts and never stretched out. Another nice feature I would like to mention is how easily dried food and spills just wiped right off with a damp cloth, that was very handy. What it comes down to is that merino wool is my new favorite. After wearing the shirt for a week synthetics feel well, pretty synthetic against my skin. Merino wool is soft, lightweight and strong plus, its annually renewable and biodegradable. The Icebreaker brand is available at Moosejaw.com

wow you wore this for a week ? DId you shower during that week? If not your Uncle Glenn would be quite proud of you but your Mom would be wondering if you were out in the wilderness way too long.
