Reviews: Montrail Torre GTX Backpacking Boot - Men's
Satisfaction I am incredibly picky about shoes. I have tried on hundreds of boots, and rarely buy due to various reasons. The Torre GTX is one I did buy. It met certain requirements, a tight yet flexible fit, an immensely stable heel and strong toe box. It is a good fit across the top of the foot also. It did require 4-5 weeks of daily use to break in...a little longer than I wanted, but it is worth it. There was no blistering, just a tight fit down around the joints on the last couple of toes. I did have to double loop the knot to keep them from coming untied, but it is inconsequential to me. Have not taken them into heavy dew areas so I can't speak about how they fair in water; I don't have reservations about their performance there since all other areas have been pleasing.
Great Boots! I have to say these are the most comfortable boots I have very worn. I had previously worn a pair of Merrell Explorers that were 5 years old yet still gave me blisters and uncomfortable feet at the end of the day. My boots arrived on a Friday and it just happened to be I was leaving to go on a weekend trip that weekend. I figured I would wear these at least for the first mile to get them broken in then switch to my old boots which I had brought with me. To my surprise I wore these brand new, unbroken in boots the entire 3 day trip without any blisters. I did develop a couple of hot spots but nothing else. With my old boots I would have gotten blisters and had very uncomfortable feet. These boots were so comfortable I didn't even wear my sandals around camp. I would highly recommend these boots to anyone looking for a lightweight, waterproof, comfortable boot.
Good boots! I have only worn these boots for two 4 mile hikes with a light pack, but have found them very comfortable and supportive with no break in needed.
