Vitesse is best!
I have been a trail runner for more than 25 years. These are the best shoes I have ever found for trail running. They protect well, and the ankle girdle keeps rocks from slipping into the shoe. Also, whatever the material is in the midsole seems to provide just the right amount of protection from sharp rocks while still flexing as well as a road shoe. The vents breath better than any shoe I have owned. This is truly a well thought-out concept and a well engineered product.
Umm Light and Stiff
The shoes are very very good. I have been a big fan of The North Face Ultra 100, which is a great shoe, but I have switched to the Montrail Vitesse and I am equally happy. The Montrail offers tons of support but is still very light. I also like the many lacing variations that are available.
