The Patagonia R1 Fleece Pants offer lightweight insulation, compressibility, and comfort while leaving out the weight and bulk. The fit of these pants is similar to a loose tight, and this year they offer better stretch for increased mobility. They slide over or under your other layers without friction, and the seams are sewn flat to prevent chafing. |
Reviews: Patagonia R1 Fleece Pants - Womens
My experience with Patagonia fleece and base layers These pants are awesome. The feel of the fabric is so soft and comfortable. The warmth provided is more than adequate. I paired them with the Patagonia midweight base layers for days when I was out for long periods with temperatures in the teens. They are comfortable, warm and quite fashionable with fleece tops.
very good pants, albeit a bit pricey This was my second set of R1 pants. They are a bit expensive, but very good. Don't be fooled into thinking they are just (a) thick long-johns, or (b) thin sweat pants, although they could be used for both. They are a beastie all their own, and I have found no better mid-weight hiking pant. At first I thought they were too short, but then realized they were designed that way: the perfect length for wearing with hiking or skiing boots. A more usable pocket would be nice, but as it is you can stash your ID and some dollars, and that's good enough, really. They are just as comfy around the house on a chilly evening as they are wicking sweat away on a vigorous hike. All in all, a keeper.
