Avalanche Course

Be prepared this winter in the backcountry by taking The American Avalanche Institute Level 1 Course. The beginner course will cover weather conditions, snowpack, terrain and how those contribute to avalanche hazards. You will also learn to dig a snowpit and identify weak and strong layers within the snowpack. The evening class is on a friday at REI and the two field days are on saturday and sunday at Alta. The course is presented by the American Association of Avalanche Professionals. It runs from November 30 - December 2, 2007 and cost $185. You can register at REI customer service 801-486-2100.
