Avalanche in Little Cottonwood Canyon
Jan 9th, 2008 by admin
There was an avalanche in Little Pine up Little Cottonwood Canyon around 7:30 this morning. It took crews 3 1/2 hours to clear the 150 foot slide path. According to a study recently done by UDOT this road is one of the highest risk in North America for avalanches. With Snowbird reporting over 178″ of new snow since December 1st. the Little Cottonwood Canyon Road is being watched carefully. With that much snow the weaker levels of snow could eventually collapse bringing down the heavier levels. No one was hurt in todays slide.
